Bird! Sacred Fabric Series 11 x 14 x 2” Japanese and American fabric, rhinestones, Indian Ring Neck Parrot feathers, and acrylic paint on board, 2017

Collaged fabric from nostalgic, family garments and acrylic painting on canvas with embelshiments.  My son and I inherited “BIRD” from my Dad. She is is an Indian Ring Neck Parrot, 20 yrs now and may live to be 70. She has a demanding personality. When she rests under a dripping faucet or shower, she is in her bliss. In this painting, water drops are rhinestones, the feathers are BIRD’s, stored in the pocket of the garden dress or set in the horizontal, small pocket as tail feathers. She sits on the section of the Japanese obi sash.
